Darren's 11th posting - Sunday, 2 July, 2000 Ooops I forgot my password... So...apart fro the fact that I've been on HOLIDAYS!!! I kinda well..forgot my password on this thingy so basically everytime I tried to log on at 4am I would be REJECTED hence the lack of my little posts. Oh...get ready for infrequent posts by moi when I'm on tour in Amercia though...I'm gonna be a busy little bee (and using other corny phrases like that..) You should check out Leo's latest update soon as one of our dear friends wrote it at our dinner party last night. So fun. I'm in Paris at the moment. I LOVE PARIS..so fun. I really didn't want to leave home though...I had so much fun being off and normal. That's what I love about my down time...I'm just me. I thought about this the other day...I think I love where I live and my spare time because no one really knows me and I'm left to just potter about and be normal. No one really knows who I am and I like it that way. I think I'd hate it if that were ever threatened or taken away from me. I completely love being an entertainer and performing on stage..but I also love the fact that I'm not a GIGANTIC SUPERSTAR because when I'm not being the guy from Savage Garden..I love just hanging out with my friends. Ooh...I have to tell you my new fave song. It's by Vertical Horizon and it's called 'everything you want'. Actually I love a lot of stuff atm...I really do love BSB's 'the one' ( i like a lot of their stuff) and I love the matchbox 20 song 'bent'. I basically like anyone with actual talent. hehehe.. I get to see the band in a few days..can't wait. I miss everyone! Well...before I collapse from jet lag exhaustion...thought I'd say HELLO...and take care and send a big squeezy hug your way. Love Darren *********** Darren's 12th posting - Monday, 3 July, 2000 tsn video is a fake.. taped of t.v ERrr.. I know Leo already mentioned this..but I checked out the site that is supposedly selling the SUPERSTARS AND CANNONBALLS vid..and I just wanted to let you know that the tsn site is basically someone trying to rip our fans off by selling you a copy of the tv special off free to air televison. If you want what they are selling ( a vhs copy of the t.v show) you could just get a friend to dub you one FOR FREE..but please don't send you hard earned money to these people. They taped the show off t.v and are basically dubbing it on to cheap blank videos and selling them to you as the real thing. The real thing is much longer and has more songs and more documentary. They'll be shut down soon but I'm just worried that our fans are getting taken advantage of. As Leo said..the actual home video is longer than the t.v special anyway. What aired on t.v was a shorter version basically designed to promote the full version coming soon. I only today just approved the front cover of the official vid..and believe me..it looks nothing like the dodgy photo they're posting on that site. I know what it's like to save pocket money to buy things you love as a teen..and I'd hate anyone to be ripped off. Take care xxD ******* Darren's 13th posting - Monday, 3 July, 2000 I karn't spel When something is taped OFF t.v..it has two F's. I'm constantly spelling things wrong btw..let this be the official post disclaiming all my future 'speling erors'.....hahahahaha ******* Darren's 14th posting - Monday, 3 July, 2000 tsn video..please leave it up to the record company to sort out Hey guys.. I saw some posts regarding emailing the tns site etc.. Please don't do this. Our record companies are handling the matter. Thanks for your concern. xD ******* Darren's 15th posting - Wednesday, 5 July, 2000 Touring..dates..South Africa and Texas Hello.. I'm in London.. I saw some posts about touring and one particularly upset fan in Texas thinking that we aren't coming there. Hey...chill!! Actually all the dates for the u.s haven't been released yet and I do believe we are coming to Texas. Here's the deal.. I'd go EVERYWHERE if we could. A lot of dates etc are due to availability. Imagine the nighmare of working out an entire tour of the u.s playing in every city and venue that we would like..then factor in the fact that the venue you may need may not be available on the day we are in the town..or that there isn't one large enough to fit the production and in the case of texas...there isn't a promoter willing to offer a fee large enough to make it possible for us to bring the show there. Very little I do is about money. I am a songwriter and I get paid everytime someone buys an album. Touring for us has never really been a profitable venture..but one I really adore. So usually...we break even on tours because we do everything in our power to come to your town. That's why at the moment there are some places (eg South Africa) that we haven't scheduled in..but are hoping to. Rest assured..if we don't come to your city..it's because it's not possible...not because we don't want to. As I explained earlier...I don't care if I don't make money.. I'd still play the show in your town..but sometimes.. in the case of South America or South African dates..financially it is difficult to make it possible to pay to haul all the trucks..the staff..the stage..the lights etc and put on the show. But we're working on it. Believe me..the reason dates are not released is because they are not finalised. I would never want to get hopes up and then cancel. So..in short...we are sorting out a Texas date... If they haven't been already..The Californian ones are about to be announced. The European tour is being set up at the moment. We're looking into South America and South Africa and even working on the possibility of Russia. More news as we know it. Thanks for being so patient!!! Love D ******* Darren's 16th posting - Wednesday, 5 July, 2000 Back Off Girls...Robert belongs to LEONIE!!!
Hate to break it to you but Robert is kinda..well..dating LEONIE!! HEHEHE... xD ******* Darren's 17th posting - Tuesday, 11 July, 2000 I exist...silently..but here none the less Yello. That's a really uncool 80's greeting for hello. Many of our younger fans won't see the cultural significance of that..but I do. I'm sick I think I've got some kind of virus that's making me sound like Demi Moore. So I'm in New York and have had to cancel my day of press and t.v promotion for the tour..in order to have a voice to sing with in two days time. I'm sure I'll be fine...it's weird.. all over Europe I had bad hayfever and now this. I think it's my body telling me to slow down and to be honest I'm kind of glad because I'm being forced to relax here in my hotel room. I'm trying to think of all the things I can do without speaking. There's some fun things...like..I'm going to get a massage. And I'm going to see a movie by myself. But you can imagine that it's KILLING ME not talking. The rest of the band have all flown on the Augusta for rehearsals and here I am in my little self imposed prison (well, first class five star Manhattan style...heheheh). I had a great time in London. Party in the park for us was wonderful...it was 100,000 people and our sound did NOT mess up (unlike many acts afterwards...my heart goes out to poor Kylie and the Bsboys who's sound desks blew up mid performance..but they handled it like true professionals...). Don't worry btw...I've got a really cool voice doctor here in NYC and before you know it..I'll be singing O Sole Mio again. Oh...I think we changed our idea for the Hold Me vid now. In America it's going to be a live one like the European Affirmation vid. I'm kinda excited about that. If we release Hold Me in Europe we'll probably shoot that idea I mentioned previously. Alright..all this typing is subconsciously hurting my voice so I'm outta here..! Take care.. xD ******* Darren's 18th posting - Sunday, 16 July, 2000 Hello from Florida and why the North Carolina show was cancelled Hey all! I'm in Florida at the moment...just got back from a day of play at Universal Studios and am feeling rather exhausted by fun. The reason our show in North Carolina was cancelled was indeed because of the rain. My apolgies to our fans who were dissapointed... if it's any help to you..we were SOOOOO disappointed ourselves. We were ready to do the show all day and it just wasn't possible. It was an outdoor show and there was really bad rainfall all day preventing anyone from being able to set up. Even though the rain stopped for a while close to gate time (around 4pm) by that stage the show was officially called off by the promoter, management and the base due to safety and curfew regulations. Water and electricity just don't mix. There is a curfew on the base where all civilians had to be off the base by 9pm which meant the show had to finish by 8pm which basically left no time at all to set up the show once the rain stopped. So when the rain finally stopped there wasn't sufficient time to set up for the show anyway. We weren't allowed to be on the base any longer than the curfew time which would have basically meant no show. If we could have extended the time we would have played anyway....just later that evening.. It generally takes the crew all day to set up for a show. Because so much water was all over the stage no electrical equipment could be set up (lights..sound..instruments..) basically it was a nightmare. We sat in our tour bus all day waiting for the show to go on and it never did. This is the only show we've ever had to cancel..and actually we didn't make the call..it was actually a group decision by all parties for safety and time constraints. I think our band were the last people to agree to cancel...and only after a lot of convincing. Believe me...we were really bummed. My voice is fine by the way. It wasn't damaged..it was another health reason causing my vocal problems and I sorted that out in New York. I know there are lots of rumors on the net about me and future projects..films etc.. Please remember that I'd tell you if something was happening so don't panic and don't think there's some conspiracy. There's nothing to tell. I also saw some post regarding my absence posting...IT'S BECAUSE I'M ON TOUR FOR Y'ALL!! I'll get to you...just not as often as you'd like I expect!! Did you check out the on the road calls? There are two more I believe. Oh..gotta say...the Augusta show was INCREDIBLE...the audience were wild and we had the best time. Really relaxed vibe on stage. We had genuine fun. Hope you all have fun and I'll see you on tour! xD ******* Darren's 19th posting - Tuesday, 18 July, 2000 Jacksonville NC show to be rescheduled and ORLANDO SHOW!!!!Wow!! Hey First of all I am soooo happy to announce that we are going back to Jacksonville NC on our day off to make up to our fans who missed out on the cancelled show there due to rain. More details soon. I read a lot of posts about the cancellation and truly felt so sorry...especially to the girl who spent $1000 getting there and didn't see a show. We are trying to work out some way of making you smile again btw so if you're reading this please email Carla with your email addy so she may pass it on to Leonie. We'd like to offer you tix to a show nearer where you live. Anyway.... the Orlando show ROCKED... it was so fantastic. We had a great time and the crowd were UP FOR IT. Very sweaty, passionate show. I'm off to soundcheck now for Ft Lauderdale... see you 'round. xxD ******* Darren's 20th posting - Tuesday, 18 July, 2000 Our Fans Just a quick note to say an enormous thankyou to all of our fans all over the world and on the internet. I'm amazed at how these communities have grown and how you continue showing up at our gigs and logging on.. requesting...everything. It's so appreciated. Last night I was given this incredible scrapbook from the Orlando show with clippings and thoughts,,photos etc from fans all over the world. It was in this red velvet pouch and it was incredible. The amount of work that went into it alone just blew us all away. I hope all our fans understand that you don't have to be a bbs'er or be online to be a fan... We don't discriminate between what kind of fan you are..whether you like one song or you're online everyday..it doesn't matter. I write on here because it's an immediate way to access our fans..but I'm not directing any of this attention specifically to online fans. This is just the most modern and convenient way to do it. You don't need a computer. You don't need to go to a show. You just have to feel connected in some way. Big squeezy hugs xD ******* Darren's 21st posting - 24 July, 2000 I can't sleep It's 3.19 am and I'm supposed to be up and in a car on my way to WB t.v studios at 5 am. I have not slept. This is a problem as I have to sing on live television soon. I'm in New York by the way. I can't sleep because I'm all out of whack with my body clock. We arrived here on the bus at 3 am yesterday and I slept until 1pm today. So I 'm not really tired yet. I do DETEST early mornings and ESPECIALLY early morning performances. How do you even WALK at this hour of the morning? Hehehehe... Daniel's birthday was short but sweet. You'll see details on Leo's new update soon... all of your letters, gifts and well wishes were very much apppreciated. Actually we were in Philly the day of his b'day and there were so many signs etc in the audience. It was really sweet. We covered him in silly string at the end of the show. Hehe. So...I'm going to try and drift off for a bit. Wish me luck. xD
