I personally think Savage Garden fans are some of the most loyal, sincere and genuine a band could ever hope for. I am constantly amazed by your enthusiasm. Since the beginning of our career we have been shown the most incredible support from our internet fans.. from your message boards, chat rooms and your own sites you have made your point loud and clear. You really get the music. And we dig that.

I guess I do lurk! Hehe...My first post
Hey...this is obviously me, Darren...err Hayes that is. I feel a little weird posting on here because I never have thus far. BUT...on this new site I've been given my very own little nick hopefully with a different color (so you know it's me). Actually so has Leonie (when she figures out how to use it) and our management. Soooo....from time to time I'm going to post you all little messages here just to let you know I LOVE YA!!! and that I'm alive. Now...to save chaos and confusion this is set up really as a general message post..that is I won't be replying to individual messages nor can you reply directly to mine... why? Because I'd get so wrapped up in this I'd probably spend all day reading your messages and replying and I wouldn't have time to ...... Be in Savage Garden. But I do lurk and I do have to occasional chuckle so...if something comes up you never know I just might make reference to you.
In general because I've got some time on my hands at the moment and this site is new I'll make an effort to post a bit here... bear with me. When I'm crazy busy...it's for you.
I know a lot of people have been very patient with this new bbs. Thanks for that. It's new...has some bugs and will be changing constantly so keep the feedback up to the webmaster and Carla and just have fun. This is not intended to replace anything. It's just our new official home and I'll be hanging here now.
But all the stuff you dig is still here. Leonie's updates will still keep coming (there's a new one waiting to be posted) and I have to say I'm really thrilled at the flow of INFORMATION on this site!
So...I should go...I'm rambling. Thanks for being sweeties..
Oh...CinSavage btw...I just have to say a HUGE thankyou to you for all that you and the SavageArmedForces do. You're incredible. To let you all know...Hold Me is going to be the new single so don't fret too much about Crash. I'm more than happy with how it has performed.

NO SUBJECT
I've obviously got too much time to spare this weekend. To be honest I think I'm just obsessed with my new glow in the dark nick..it kinda rocks. No, to be honest I just really appreciate you all dropping into this site as it's our site and I'm kind of proud of it. I know it's not exactly the same as the Sony site, but that's our intention. It's not meant to replace or divide...this is just our direct link to our fans here so we appreciate the support. Carla and Dbc are listenig to your requests re this message board and I believe you may just get everything you're asking for soon. We don't want to make this a duplicate board. So far it's shaping up to be quite light and fun. I dig that.
Lemme tell you about Italy.
Way too much pasta. Yum.
Got to sing with one of the most incredible vocalist of our time, Mr Pavarotti. Finally met George Michael (I'm a big fan) and got to see Annie Lennox do her thang again (just love her!). But mostly got to meet more of our Italian fans and especially Ema (Obi1) who was sooooo sweet...so thanks for that!! You let me have my five minutes peace when I shopping alone and I really appreciated it.
I'm on a little holiday at the moment...at home. It feels so good to be in my bed and cooking in my own kitchen!! (Actually Leo is doing a lot of the cooking..but I've been eating!!!). We head off to London soon for Party in the park and then back to the u.s for the start of the tour.
We are intending to tour Europe and Latin America this year as well so for those of you who live there...don't stress...we're planning!
I bought Stuart Little on DVD and watched it again today.
I am obsessed with that little mouse.
I want one.

Why I am posting
Hey...I have to explain a few things.. Firstly...I have no life other than music so as I'm on vacation..my miserable social life is revealing itself to you all via my frequent posts. But believe me...when the tour starts I will not be posting this much... I think I'd drop dead from no sleep. Isn't it strange how you can lose yourself for hours on the net..? I'm constantly on the Starwars page.
Anyway..just wanted to explain that I am posting here on this site because it's MY SITE...this is the official band site..we own it and with the help of DBC and Carla..we operate it. I still love/dig/appreciate the Sony site... I mean..come on!! It's our record company!! And all of this net interest in the band was nurtured and flourished there at the Sony site. But there you have the reason for this site. That site is owned and operated by the record company. This is owned and operated by the band. What is the difference between a record company site and the band's own site? Not a lot...just more of a Personal touch. Personal input. Me posting here. Makes it more personal. I feel welcome and I feel that as we started it for you and with you..I am kind of a part of this community. Obviously I don't particpate in your conversations and that is why me or Leo don't respond to you individually because (apart from taking up all day) it would defeat the purpose. These are your words. I just like having the opportunity to pop in an ramble about nothing.
...I guess what I really wanted to say tonight is that I urge you all..please to enjoy this site AND/Or the sony site. There seems to be confusion about the where/why/how of having two sites and really that is not our intention. Honeslty...I was trying to have ONE bbs LINKED to both sites but it was just not possible. I knew it was going to freak everyone out by having two...so oringinally intended to move it here.. As it was not possible... I obviously didn't want to offer you a brand new site without a bbs...hence this one. But Carla still moderates both boards so understand I have no motive to encourage you to be here or there other that the fact that it makes me happy to give fans more of what they want. This is not TRL. There are no prizes for the most hits..no votes for the most members of this new site. Either way..if you're on the net looking up sites on our band I thank you in the same way I do for being into the music or coming to the shows. It all adds up to the same thing...we all have something in common. This band.
So please don't feel divided. Do what makes you happy. This is totally coming from a place of goodness. I really would encourage this bbs to be one of POSITIVITY. There are people dying of starvation. It makes some of our problems in our lives seem pretty small doesn't it? With our music..and everything I do...I have the same intention. I want to inspire. I want to entertain. I want to lift you up and take you away from your problems. I'm not interested in popularity contests..I don't care if this board has a million posts today and tomorrow they are all at the sony board... it's all the same thing. I'm still reaching you. You're still connecting through the music and each other.
I 'm just posting here because I can and there's a bright blue little thingy that says my name. Hehe.
It's making me happy that you're happy so please just have fun. I'm giving this much now as a sign of welcome.
I really don't get inloved in the petty nitty gritty and honestly..usually avoid negativity at all costs. So generally if I'm lurking (and believe me I really normally don't have time to do that a lot..) I rarely read the arguments.
I like the stories about how music brings you together..or is the soundtrack to your life.
I like hearing how this dream of ours inspires you all to reach out and connect with each other. It's so special. How many friends have you made on here? It's incredible.
That's the important stuff.
So whether you hang here...or there...it's no biggie. Just...please..enjoy yourself.
I personally have to say a HUGE thankyou to Carla. She is such an incredible help and so kind and patient!!! God bless you.

Ooh...now can I finally say...honeslty...to people like Dyan who are always worried about my reactions... I'm not that uptight. I think you're funny. I really don't read a lot of posts...but when I do...I gotta tell you..unless it's unecessarily nasty...I find it all so amusing. Gawd.. I mean why not have fun? I honestly am so not as serious as you might think. All I ever really want is to avoid my family or relationships being the subject of publicity because they are not famous or choose to be. I really do try hard to have a private life and a public life. But that doesn't mean I want to be treated like Mother Theresa. The reason I really don't read a lot of gossipy stuff on here is that I want you to feel like you can have a laugh without big brother watching. That's part of the reason I never really posted on the sony board. And you know..when pm's finally arrive here (!!!!!! purleeease..the fans are going to KILL ME!!) I'm sure you guys can say absolutely anything you want to each other without fear of censorship.
I really am happy.
I'm in a stage in my life where I'm just understanding that tension...friction...arguments...they're kind of a real waste of energy. I just smile. Let go. It's ALL GOOOOOOD!
This site is just MORE from US.. it's not meant to take over anything. If you like it here...fantatic!!! The whole reason for it's existence is to be able to have a DIRECT link to our net fans and to have a little more creative control of the content. I LOVE the sony site. I used to feel really bad for them when I'd read complaints about the lack of info etc...because generally they work their @#$#'s off. They just have a few hundred bands to attend to so sometimes it's a little more difficult. Here...I've only got one band so it's a little easier for us to drop you a line about sudden changes in the schedule...or concerts dates etc. I'm sure someone at DBC will eventually do something to annoy you... it's life. I mean..when the background color of the message board whips you into a rage because you hate it...just remember ...someone out there in the world has more serious problems to attend to right now...like finding the next meal. Little children are finding adult like strength to battle cancer. We here in internet land are doing ok I think. As a band..I really feel that We are...as I say often... just hired clowns paid to entertain you. Sometimes we will succeed. And sometimes we will suck.
But our heart is always in the right place.
I love this site. It's not intended to replace anything. It's just a different perspective. It's just MORE folks. Choices. Channel surf I say.

Gossipy good things you might want to know..
We are releasing a live video/dvd this year called 'superstars and cannonballs...SG live and on tour in Australia'...it's the full two hour show filmed in Brisbane plus a documentary called 'parallel lives'. An edited form of the concert will air on Australian Television on the 7 network in 2 weeks and eventually (August/Sept) you'll be able to purchase the whole thing on vid/dvd in Australia. It's being released in the rest of the world sometime after we tour there...so expect it to be a Christmas gift.
Also..in the uk... there will be some really groovy mixes available on the Affirmation single... Cd1 features a club mix of Affirmation which is out of this world...a club mix of Crash and Burn by Eddie A..it's one of my fave club mixes... cd2 features all live tracks recorded in Australia. IKILY (the full 7 min live version) TMD Affirmation. It's pretty cool. Just thought you might want to know.
Also it looks like we'll be in L.A next week shooting the video for HOLD ME on a soundstage. At this stage it's a very simple concept shot by director David Hogan who shot Shania Twain's 'still the one' video. I read his idea and fell in love with it. Really simple concept involving wind as a metaphor for the struggles of a relationship. The wind will apparently lift me up off my feet and I'm hoping there'll be stunt men on hand to give me a few tips with those safety ropes!! Shhh! You didn't hear this from me..

well I guess you're right...I am a late nighter. At the moment especially so because I'm on vacation so I can sleep in!! To be honest I'm probably still extremely jetlagged. I mean...Australia for five weeks then Amercia for two days...then Italy and back..I'm kind of all mixed up time wise.
Anyway...the new nickname is in fact SLICK...that's the one my crew on the road have been calling me. The one at home I have decided proably makes better sense there because it's my baby name and only my family and one or two other people have ever called me that. Even Leo doesn't call me it so I figured I should proably not use it here..
Rushmore is my new fave DVD. and I've decided that Jar Jar Binks was COOL..and didn't deserve the slamming he took from the world. He makes me laugh.

I can't STAND IT anymore..
heheh..here's the deal...if you all start calling me SLICK I'm afraid I'll never respond because it's only a new one from the tour so who knows if slick will stick. So far no one else in the universe is calling me that so I don't think it will. No...what I was getting at in my last post was that a lot of people on here call me Daz but actually no one who knows me ever calls me that so I thought you might all want to know that. My REAL nickname I've decided probably should be kept private because that's what makes is special. I have to tell you though it really sends Leo nuts because..try as she may..she can't seem to say it with sincerity and gets quite jelous if Daniel or my family call me it. She's a funny one.
What I can tell is that you're all adorable and you can call me any old thing you want.

Thankyou for your drawings, poems etc..
Just a quick note to say thank you to all our fans who go out of their way to draw pictures or write poems for or inspired by us. Obvioulsy I don't get time to read/look at them all but when I get a chance to have a look or I see something back stage it always makes me smile.
I thought you should know that when I was a little boy I used to write letters all the time and send them to Michael Jackson. Drawing was also up there on my list of essential things. I was an expert at drawing E.T and Michael's eyes..(not quite as good as you Ema..) There you go..

Beware of imposters
Hey all..
Just a quick note to warn that the person chatting on AOL is not me.
Carla told me there has been someone posting on there pretending to be me. It's not.
I only ever post here or through Leonie's updates. I never chat on AOL, IRC or any other chat programs. Only the record company site (sony) and this official band site contain official authentic news and posts from me or the management. I would hate it if some of you were fooled or misled by someone playing a joke on you.
